Cable and Wireless plc announced today that it has appointed Stephen Brewer to be Chief Executive, Caribbean Mobile. He will be based in the Cayman Islands and will work with Cable & Wireless businesses throughout the Caribbean region to expand and strengthen their existing mobile operations.

Kevin Loosemore, Chief Operating Officer, Cable & Wireless, said: "Stephen Brewer has established an excellent track record in mobile telecoms over the past fifteen years. In the Caribbean, where markets are newly liberalised, Cable & Wireless is committed to competing in all sectors of telecommunications and has been working with governments to introduce a sustainable competitive environment. Mobile is an important and growing area of the business, and Stephen's skills will play a key role in developing Cable & Wireless' competitive edge."
