It was the worst service experience ever! When we arrived on time @ 7:30pm we were asked first if we were guests of the hotel. Then we were told by the maitre'd that we would not be able to have a table overlooking the water; these tables are held for guests of the hotel. I told them that I had Cap Juluca's concierge make an early reservation to ensure we would have a good table. They said they could not accomodate. (I got the feeling it was more of a Would not....) Almost all of these tables were available. We were then placed at a table in their 'second row'. On either side, infront of this table there were clearing stations where dirty dishes were being cleared to. We had to ask for menus. Then we had to ask if we could have water. Then we had to ask if we could have a cocktail. When the server came to take our drink order he literally grunted. By the time these drinks arrived, about 8:10 pm and noone had presented themselves properly as our server with information on the menu or any specials, we were quite put off and asked that if they would not move us to a table where we did not have to look at dirty dishes (that's limited to the tables in the first row that overlook the water) we would probably be leaving. Also they had just seated an older couple infront of us at a table overlooking the water. They also were not guests of Malliohana and had actually come early to their reservation but they were placed at one of the many empty tables infront of us overlooking the water by the very gentleman that told us he could not seat us there! I felt very poorly treated. I feel that although the menu looked great and the wine list looked great, this was the most pretentious stuck up dining experience I had ever had. I don't mind a bit of attitude if you can back it up with good food and fantastic service but alas they could not. We left and went to Cuisinart for dinner! Cuisinart was fabulous! Try their foie gras!
