We just came back from Anguilla and were excited about eating at Blanchard's. We had read the Blanchards' book "A Trip to the Beach" and were looking forward to a great experience. This restaurant is highly recommended but it seems to be resting on its laurels.
My husband and I both had the lobster ($50 each) and although the servings were abundant (1 1/2 lobsters apiece) the lobster was very dry and overcooked and the curry marinade lacked any flavor. The side dishes were a little better but not much. We passed on dessert since the rest of the meal was so disappointing. At $12-$16 each, I didn't think it was worth the effort.
The restaurant is very lovingly put together and is really beautiful at night. The service was definitely lacking for a fine dining establishment and was slow, innattentive and not very friendly.
I think the Blanchards must summer at their home in Vermont and miss what is going on during the slow season. Their crew let them down.
Save your money. There are much better restaurants on this island to experience. Oliver's is fantastic and the owner personnally speaks to all guests and is a thoroughly charming gentleman. Altamer, Mango's, and a little Trattoria near the beach are all very good as well.
