Anguilla Restaurant & Dining Reviews Reviews
Barrel Stay 07/02/2005
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
What a pleasant surprise! Barrel Stay used to be one of our favourite places to dine pre-Luis, but it never seemed to regain its old charm and reputation for quality cuisine - At least not until our visit a week or so ago. We wandered barefoot down the beach, and were warmly greeted by Jill, our hostess, and shortly thereafter by Graham, the chef, who explained the offerings on the menu. I selected the fois gras, after being promised that it was fresh, from US West Coast, but nonetheless superb! Definitely comparable with the finest I have tasted in the best Parisian restaurants. For the main course, I had a swordfish steak, my dining companions had rack of lamb and steak au poivre. Those who had the lamb commented that it was up there with the best lamb they ever ate. All the sauces were creatively delicious, and the presentation of all the dishes was to the highest standards. Those of us who still had room enjoyed a wonderful creme brulee to wrap things up. Truly a memorable gourmet dining experience. Prices were comparable with other top-end Anguilla restaurants, but the quality of our dining experience was second to none. Highly recommended!
