Dining Reviews: Aruba
Allegro Resort and Casino 11/15/01
Reviewers Rating: Great
DO NOT listen to what some people say about this resort. My husband and I went the summer of 2000. Check in was easy, 15 minutes at the most. Of course your room probably won't be ready, but that's at all Carribean destinations. Just get a bite to eat, or drink, and relax on the beach. Or, take a cab into town and check out the shopping..cool mall and other shops. Ok, the rooms aren't the greatest; they're pretty small, have only a step out balcony, and are a little run down. BUT, the reason for this is simple. They spent all the money on the stuff that really counts. First of all, the food is great. We never really ate at the places around the pool, but the main restaurant that is buffet breakfast and lunch is really good...seriouly. My husband and I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts and had "all-inclusive" food. Allegro isn't like that. The drinks are great as well..strong. Try Aruban sunset. The pool and beach are really nice too. Plenty of beac! h space. The nightly shows are really cute...enjoyable. Many people come from other hotels to see. If you're all inclusive, they're free. Otherwise 50 bucks a person. The food at the shows is absolutely first class. I'm not streching this one at all. You'll probably make friends with other couples at the shows, as you are set at tables that seat 2 or 3 couples. Really fun..we went to a show just a bout every night. If you want some club action, skip Carlos and Charlies. Too busy and really SMALL. There is a Senor Frogs, but we didn't make that one. There are other clubs in walking distance of the main square area. Many are free if you get there early, 9:30-10:00. Clubs play disco, house, and hip-hop music. Also, food downtwn is great..try Iguana Joe's. We ate there twice. Good nachos and Fajitas. Drinks here are exceptional. Not too pricey either. As for tours, be SURE to take the island jeep tour...JEEP, not 4 wheeler...trust me on this one. Very rocky!! T! he party boat Tatoo is really famous. It's just a "get drunk" kinda thing..THAT'S ALL! We had fun, but got sick from too many sex on the beaches and were both hung over the next day for our snokeling trip...not good to be on a catamarin hung over..AHHH!!! Casinos are cool too..Allegro's is ok..free bingo every night. We aren't big gamblers so we mostly stayed away. All in all, I highly recommend Allegro. Awesome food, people, pool, and beach. Trust me. I wrote this long thing out of the goodness of my heart. We had a great time in Aruba and will stay at Allegro if we ever go back.
