Discovery Bay resort 09/25/02

Clean rooms and an exceptionally friendly and efficient staff and management. These are the two items that will stand out in my mind after a nine day experience at the Resort. Built in the late 1960s, it needs plenty of exterior shaping-up. Arriving late on an overcast afternoon, my first thoughts were "Oh, Oh! What have I done?", all and all it was not bad. The beach is small, however, it is bigger than several adjacent to it. The water is crystal clear. The rooms were adequate and clean. The food in the dining room was just marginal at best. Breakfast buffet was not up to the standards we have enjoyed at other facilities in the Caribbean. The price was. In addition, they have this rulinga regarding wearing of men's pants versus shorts in the dining facility. Get with it DBR, that kind of thinking went out in the 1950s. The dining room was exceptionally hot even during dinner time. I tried to break the Shorts barrier, but was told to leave and come back with trousers or I couldn't dine there.Hopefully someone will buy this place and update it, as the grounds were quite nice and spacious and the pool adequate.
