The Octopus 12/11/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
The Octopus bar and restaurant is a great location for sunsets, listening to very good music (on tuesdaynights Michael Anthony on sax and Norman Moron keys, dancing on fridaynights with very good d.j.) drinks and snacks. Don't go there for food!!

The Octopus is located in Boca St. Michiel, or Boca Sami as we say, drive to the end of the road at the shore line and turn right. It is located at Wederfoort's diving outfit and has a beautiful terrace over the sea, which at night is lighted and full of small fishes. It is a wonderful place, a genial crowd, friendly but rather stupid waiters (boys and girls, no pro's) and the worst food I've ever had on the island. Nothing was really hot, the meat overcooked (bbq) the goat stew mostly bones, the fries soggy and the fishsoup right out of the sea; too salty and also not hot, the (jumbo) shrimps hardly 1,5 inch... No whipped cream available for the (expensive) Irish coffees we ordered (from the menu)and the bill full of items we never ordered.

Don't be discouraged though, the drinks are OK and most of the snacks are ready made (frozen and deepfried) so they can't really destroy those...

I think it's worth mentioning because of the great location and the quaintness of it all, Curacao at it best and at its worst, hopefully someone with a little more idea about food picks it up soon....
