Fort Nassau 08/25/2003

Pulling up on the winding road that leads up to this magnificent piece of history leaves one breathless. The view is nothing less than spectacular. Perched high on a cliff, Fort Nassau offers the most breathtaking of views.

I found myself walking far more slowly than I normally would because I simply had to in order to take in what I was surrounded by. We leisurely walked up the old stone stairs, admiring the history with every step.

Once inside the restaurant itself, it was difficult to take everything in. We chose to sit indoors because there was a particularly strong wind that evening. I couldn't imagine that the food would be able to compare to the view.

I began with the Crayfish Bisque, which is an absolute must for anyone who has the opportunity to dine at this treasure. It was light and incredibly flavorful. It wasn't the heavy bisque typical of US restaurants. The entrees were just as divine as the appetizers.

Fort Nassau is a treasure not to be missed by anyone visiting Curacao.
