Cuba Restaurant & Dining Reviews
Casa Granda Hotel-Restaurant 04/16/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
This is a lunch review... The Casa Granda hotel stands at the top of Cespedes Square in Santiago de Cuba. The emaculately restored first floor restaurant and bar offers a magnificent veiw of the popular square, and several national landmarks. The Casa Granda is furnished in marble, turtle wood and mahogany, it is the picture of colonial elegance. In spite of its beauty the lunch menu is very reasonably priced with most meals for about 5 dollars USD. Featured items are crispy fried chicken, salads, fruit plates, fresh fish and rice, and delicious sandwiches made with fresh bread and yummy Cuban cheese. You can just have drinks if you preffer, the Mojitos are realy good and get you in the mood for people watching. They have live music in the evenings. There is a lunch buffet on the rooftop but the food is standard hotel fare and the buffet price was high.(12us$) There is a spectacular veiw of the whole city from the roof, so just go up and look, don't bother with the buffet!
