Dining Reviews: St. Lucia
Some Rodney Bay Restaurant Reveiws 04/04/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We have just returned from Rodney Bay after spending Easter. My self and my wife booked last minute for a long weekend, and our travel agent managed to get the last room available at the Candyo Inn, a simple friendly 10 or so room hotel right in the heart of Rodney Bay. Candyo proved Ideal for us, a clean friendly apartment type accomodation. I wont quote rates as we live within Caricom (Trinidad) and we may get a better rate than would be typically available.

Anyway WE LOVE FOOD. Rodney Bay has a fantastic array of restaurants, many of which I would highly recommend. We could not eat at all of them, but these are the ones we sampled.

Rasmataz (or something) Indian Restaurant.

We absoloutly love Curry and have tried it all over the World USA INDIA UK to name a few so naturally we had to make this the first port of call. Unfortunatly I have to say this was our one disapointment. The Restaurant is run by a British couple, and apparantly they have an Indian chef. (might be indian but I have a problem with the chef bit)

Suffice to say I have a fair knowledge of Indian cuisine and could not recommend this restaurant.

Sunday Lunch, Mel and H's Englsh Pub (Cats Whiskers)

Although I am from Trinidad my parents are English,(god bless them)and I went to school there. Anyway I will stop waffeling.

Whenever the opportunity presents itself for some good old Roast Beef and Yorkshire, I am first in line. You cannot go wrong here. Great food and plenty of it. Mel also makes all manner of Pies Fish and Chips, English breakfast etc.

Buzz on Sunday night.

Buzz, A classy restaurant for Steak Seafood etc. Very pleasant ambiance and friendly staff, The food again was a delight, Wifey went for Surf and Turf and I opted for Rack of lamb. The place was very busy with both tourists and locals "with reasonable size wallets".

Memories of Hong Kong

Memories, is a chinese restaurant but covers many regions of chinese cuisine, They have some great set meals. for 2 3 and 4 people. We opted for one of these which was fantastic. Hot and Sour soup, Crispy Duck and Pancakes, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef (something) and some great Shrimp dish. Naturally with a big bowl of perfectly cooked rice.

Delightful

Apparantly the chef is the only chinese chef on the island. He is a Wizard with he Wok

Last night blues.

We had a big problem on our last night, where oh where to eat, so many choice still left.

Anyway after a great deal of consideration, so much so they were about to close, we decided on a Steak. If it's Steak you want you simply have to go by Big Chef.

At big chef you get steak or steak 14oz 22oz 32oz or 42oz Tenderloin Striploin Fillet etc (no T Bone though).

Two 14oz selected. a very fine Steak great friendly service.

You will not be disappointed here at all.

As I say there are many many more places to eat from local food to upper class eateries all in Rodney Bay.

Prices are higher than we would pay in Trinidad, but they are not horrendous.

Oh by the way the KFC isn't bad either.

Enjoy
