St. Lucia Restaurant & Dining Reviews Reviews
The Great House 01/11/2005
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We ate at the Great House twice over the Christmas period. The setting and the ambience are really lovely. It's high on a hill on the edge of the Club St Lucia site, overlooking the bay in which the hotel is sited. The restaurant is open on one side, overlooking the bay and would be a fabulous place to watch the sunset for visitors during the summer months. The menu and the wine list are extensive, with plenty to suit all tastes. The starters are excellent (I chose lobster salad and foie gras on my 2 visits, also highly recommended also are the smoked salmon and the tomato tarte). The steak and the lamb are excellent. Unfortunately the two fish dishes I fancied were both off the menu and I found the tuna a little overcooked, however all our party thoroughly enjoyed their choices. The desserts are wonderful - creme brulee and profiteroles particularly recommended. The service is exemplary. This is not a cheap option (although returning guests of CSL have a generous 50% discount), but for a very special night out I would highly recommend it.
