Razzmatazz Indian Restaurant 10/10/2008
Reviewers Rating: Fair
Whilst holidaying on St Lucia in Sept 08, my wife and I tried dining at the Razzmatazz Indian at Rodney Bay. The service was ok, the food arrived fairly quickly. We had previously enquired with the waiter regarding the possibility of eating there Gluten Free. This is a requirement of a medical condition which demands that the diet be Wheat and Gluten free - sounds dramatic but its really quite easy as most fresh foods will conform naturally and its only breads / sauces etc which need to be prepared under Gluten free conditions. YES was the answer. Accordingly we ordered and the meals arrived. My initial reaction to the meal was that I had got someone elses order, as I had never before tasted anything so rank. My personal favourite Indian meal is Chicken Jalfrezi, and I have enjoyed this meal in a number of large and small restaurants in the UK. OK I know there is a bit of leeway for the Chef to put his own touch to the meal but this was WWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overspiced, with the wrong spices. It tasted like a pot of Lime pickle had inadvertantly fallen into the pot - or that the Onions, which form a large part of the ingredients were pickled onions. My wifes meal was basically the mixed grill which she is familiar with, and not only did it really upset her stomach through NOT being prepared to Gluten free guidelines, but also was practically inedible. My recommendation for this eatery is: AVOID IT, but dont worry - just next door is the MEMORIES OF HONG KONG Chinese, the food there is superb, and really is Gluten Free diet suitable. "Billy" the head chef is familiar with the dietary demands of Coeliac sufferers. Happy eating Frank Delacoe
