The restaurant at Fond Doux plantation, nr Soufriere 03/15/2005

We really enjoyed this place. Set in a beautiful working plantation (mainly cocoa, exported to Hershey's, and bananas to the UK) the simply furnished restaurant makes the most of the homegrown fruit and veg. There's an excellent buffet, with a lot of authentic dishes (breadfruit balls, green fig salad, beanpot, macaroni cheese - yes really!) and the setting is beautiful. There's an upmarket gift shop, and it's fascinating to tour the plantation to see cocoa being processed. All in all, well worth the trip.
