Hemingway's Beachfront Restaurant 11/14/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My husband and I discovered Hemingway's during our stay at The Sands at Grace Bay. I quickly fell in love with this lovely open air restaurant overlooking Grace Bay while drinking a mango pina colada and watching the sun set into the blue water. Dinner was a delightful variety of local specialties and international cuisine. For starters we shared crab cakes with a vegetable relish and a local dish, conch fritters. Both were absolutely magnificent. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth tender on the inside. The conch fritters, my first, reminded me of calamari - breaded, spiced and fried - served hot. They were a lovely introduction to local cuisine. Just divine. For an entree I ordered the filet mignon which was so perfectly grilled that I let out a moan with every bite. My husband tried the red snapper, again grilled to sublime perfection and served with a coconut milk and lime sauce. I could have sat there listening to the waves all n! ight. The restaurant attracts visitors from hotels along Grace Bay beach and is a favourite among locals. The atmosphere at Hemingway's is very relaxed and the staff pleasant and non-intrusive making our stay at The Sands deliously memorable. If you are in Providenciales, don't miss Hemingway's!(This review was orginally posted on March 7, 2001)
