Aruba Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
La Cabana resort 09/29/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My fiancee and I stayed at the La Cabana resort from 9/13 to 9/20/03 along with some of our friends.
First off I must say that this place is huge and has everything you could possibly need right at the resort. There is a drug store, mini market, many different shops and boutiques, Dunkin Donuts, ice cream parlors and much more right inside the resrt itself.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, everyone greets you with a warm smile. We stayed in the villas, the rooms were large and immaculate, not a speck of dirt to be found anywhere! I loved th fact that we had a full kitchen so I could stock the fridge with snacks and drinks from the mini mart. There was only a few small problems that I found with the room, our bed was uncomfortable, old and creaky, and being in room 4543, we were all the way at the farthest end from the elevator which can be a pain to walk in the heat. Also take note that the villas are across the street from the main building and across another street for the beach, which I was unaware of. You can not get an oceanfront unless you own a timeshare, so if you are in a villa be prepared to do a lot of walking, which is good excercise!
Breakfast is buffet style, and cost $19.95 for two plus they add gratuity to everything. There wasn't a' la carte like their website states so i was dissapointed, but the meal was good !! We did lunch at the islander grill, and must say the food is superb, you must try the Greek salad and chicken fingers, very good. Had our dinner at the Captains table, once again an excellent meal but a little pricey, but well worth it, had the best tiramisu for dessert! Also ate at pizza and pastabilities, great pizza, but they do not serve any pasta at all so ignore the menu.
The main pool is beautiful, and there are pleny of lounge chairs to go around. There are iguanas and geckos that hang out around the pool, they are harmless and very shy so you do not have to worry if you have small children.
Aruba is a beautiful island with perfect weather and friendly people, La cabana has the most to offer for the best value. I would stay there again.
