The resort was even more beautiful than I figured it would be. You know how you see a pic of the place then get there and think “when was that pic taken ?” well the Allegro chain apparently bought it out 1.5 yrs ago and the resort was given a facelift and fixing up, it was only 6 yrs old to start with. But it definitely was gorgeous. The food was plentiful and great. Lots of fresh fruits, friendly service, helpful people. The rooms were very nice, clean……… All the public areas at the resort were extremely clean and well maintained. I thought the bathroom by the pool may be yucky but it was extremely clean……. Ceramic tile. No smell, just really nice.
I would definitely recommend it as a resort. The only drawback in my estimation, is that it is somewhat isolated from the rest of the country, it is a 20 km drive out to a T-Intersection that will take you somewhere else.
You had to book the alacarte restaurant in person, which is annoying, as we were always out or doing something, but we finally got a reservation and missed it as we were in Cocoa Beach.
We rented a car, (flexability - being isolated) the car guy was great and suggested that we get a private guide, which we did and Marco drove us to the volcano, in our rented car. We would probably not have made it, there are potholes that will swallow your car further inland,,,,, but the main roads are good and we felt very safe.
The people are very friendly and I would definitely go back. We went on an offsite tour, (thru Swiss Travel) and did the Canopy Tour, went to mud bath, hot springs, horseback riding, and hiking, it was 117.00 us for the day, but you did a lot of different things and saw some great country side.
With our rented car and directions from the car guy, we went out on our own, and went to a number of places on our own. He did not try and push us to take the tours, but was friendly and helpful, even giving us his personal cell number in case we had any problems.
Even tho it is a bit isolated, you can take the tours, or rent a car for a day or 2, remember tho , that all cars are STANDARD>………… no Automatic……..
We drove into Liberia one day and had some food, some ni
The pool at the hotel was great, there wre 2 small hot tubs, but we didn’t find them to be “hot” so didn’t use them, a mini gym, and a giant chess set.
