Sol Club Cayo Coco 01/01/01
Reviewers Rating: Good Spent Dec. 10 - 24, 2000 at this resort. It was rated a 4 star in all the brochures but I've been to other 4 star resorts in Cuba & this one did not measure up to those. The staff were very nice and eager to please. Most spoke very good English and the service all around was excellent. The first impression (lobby) was not 4 star quality. The chairs were not clean, old and VERY uncomfortable. The room we stayed in was ok but draperies were off the hooks, you couldn't walk on the tile floor without getting your feet dirty and there was so much space around the door to the outside, the mosquitoes had a field day in our room. The only other complaint I have is the food. While the variety was good and abundant, it was never hot. It was all buffet and when the food starts out tepid, by time you get it to your table,it's COLD. After all is said and done, with the exception of the above, it was a nice resort. The beach was excellent, the snorkling good, the pool and oth! er facilities were fine. I recommend taking a large quantity of insect repellant because the mosquitoes are very bad from dusk till dawn. One other thing, there's nothing to do outside of the resort. You are pretty much isolated being 50 km from the mainland.
