Sol Club Cayo Coco 11/15/01
Reviewers Rating: Good
This resort is a fairly good resort. It is a reasonably inexpensive resort and you get what you pay for. The lobbly I found to be quite beautiful and a warm comfortable place to sit and relax. Our room was ok, the beds were quite comfortable and the bathroom was always very clean. We were on the ground floor and did have an ant problem for the first two days but they took care of that quickly. We were travelling with a one year old and the pool area was very good for her to play in. The pool overall was very nice. The Beach although didn't have the "white powder" sand was good. There is a beach just around the bend that had the white powdery sand but you had to pay for chairs there because it was off of the resort. The food was not that great but ok. Breakfast was fine, sometimes not cooked all that well, lunch was great at the pool restaurant, I highly recommend the pizza and fries. Supper on the other hand was not all that impressive. I was cold and bland. Often we found that food left over from lunch or breakfast was reused. But the bread, fruit and ice cream could not have been fresher. As for the babysitting services, although the girls were great I didn't trust it enough to leave my one year old there. There is no secruity whatsoever, and a lack of people looking after the little ones. But for the older kids it is great. They have so many programs and things for them to do. The entertainment was good. You will see the same people throughout the day do different jobs then see them again in the shows. There isn't much participation with the audience but it is lots of music and dancing. Overall the only major downfall to this resort would be the lack of good food at supper time. Also if you are looking to get a real sense of Cuban culture at this resort you won't find it. But if you take the day trip to Moron you will. I would recommend this place to someone who has children ages 4-10, who aren't picky eaters and who just want to sit around the pool and relax. But someone looking for a party atmosphere with lots of younger adults may want to try somewhere else. We had fun, but who wouldn't with the beach, water and the sun!
