What a discovery! A charming, affordable, Canadian-owned Bed and Breakfast in Holguin, Cuba! I found Casa Margit on foot in a lovely quiet neighbourhood in Holguin, near La Loma de la Cruz. It's intentionally kept somewhat plain on the outside, but the inside features marble floors, attractive hard-wood furnishings, hot water private bath, air conditioning, and so much more. 3 meals a day are available, but the cooking is not very fancy. Nonetheless, Margit listened to my bad Spanish and I soon explained some of my favourite meals, which she pulled off with some panache. Nightly room rates are approx. $20 USD in the high season (Dec-Apr).
