    Bahia Principe 12/27/2003
    Reviewers Rating: Excellent
    December 19-26/03 2 adults 1 child (7).

Flight: Air Canada, good meals, free headphones good flight there and back. My luggage was missing when arriving at Varadero and I did not get until Monday after arriving on Friday. I had insurance so I went shopping and will be compensated.

Weather: The weather for this week was not great, windy, cloudy and only 3 days at the most of sunshine, but still nicer then home. Not much rain a couple of showers only.

Hotel: Very clean, nice grounds, great layout with lots of walkways to the beach. Service was great, very friendly helpful staff. Pool very large and nice, not tons of lounger chairs around the pool.

Beach: Great Beach area for this hotel, lots of chairs and pads to go with them, long streath for Bahia only and then if you go over the cliff you can walk for ever and see all the other beach areas in front of other hotels heading towards Paradisus and TRYP.

Rooms: We had a standard room in the main hotel part not ocean view. The room was nice with balcany and tub, (nice deep tub), there was a hairdryer that had the converter build in for electrical appliances.

Other Room: We had another room since we went to Havana for 2 days you needed to check out and back in again. Bungalow ocean view to the left of the hotel. The room only has a shower. This room was very nice ground floor so some ants running about but I did not mind they were little and who cares a few little bugs as long as they are not in the bed do not bother me. Almost changed rooms due to noise of upstairs air conditioner, I am very light sleeper so I thought is may bother me, but it ended up it did not. Very quiet room with big balconym there are 4 rooms in a bungalow all ocean view, our room was not to far from the hotel as they are not in main area and access to beach not far either, they are a bit of a walk to the resturants and pool. They are still working on the bungalows to the left of the hotel when facing from the beach and more work on the ones where we stayed.

Tours: The hotel was overbooked so people were offered a fee trip to Havana if they vacated their room. We did and was it ever nice, we had a nice tour bus, great tour guide and all our meals were included and stayed at the Occidental Miramar in Havana. Two full days of touring the sites all for free and when we returned we got the oceanview bungalow (bonus).

Food: The food was good, not out of this world but really good food. The Christmas Eve gala dinner buffet was excellent, caviar, lobster, you name it they had it, If I only had more room I could have eaten all night long it was so good, many extras. We ate at all the a la cartes and enjoyed being elsewhere other than the buffet for a change and the food at all three were good.

Bars: We did not spend a lot of time at the bars but there was one by the beach, one by the pool and couple more, drinks were good.

Shows: We went to a couple of the shows and they were very good. As we get up early we are not late night people. Every night at 10 there is a show, then music another stage area and then the disco begins. Entertaning place for night time.

Kids Club and stuff: We spent a lot of time with our daughter and the kids club was not a happening place and we were there over Christmas, she stayed a couple of time but very limited, I would not plan on this hotel if you are looking for a really good kids club, there were no planned activites for the children and the staff did not seem to be really good child car providers. There were all very well behaved children at this resort and you did not really notice them getting into anyones way. Our daughter loved the beach and collecting shels and making sand castles, we enjoyed spending time with her.

Overall comments: This is a very nice resort for those who appriciate not having drunks and children running loose, very clean and I found the resort to have some class. Great place for families and couples and singles who enjoy meeting others. Please e-mail me if you have any other questions about this resort.
