Although we stayed at the Hawksbill October of 2000, I didn't see it in the list and felt anyone researching a resort would be done a disservice if they did not consider the Hawksbill. Do not read further if you are looking for a wild time, loud music and action, action, action. If however, you are looking for a quality resort, a relaxing time, and suberb surroundings, read on.
My wife and I finally were able to get away from our hectic lives. The week we spent on Antigua, and particularly at the Hawksbill, were the most relaxing, enjoyable days we have spent in a long time. Courteous staff, good food (some meals were great, others just good) and clean, nicely sized rooms.
The few resident vendors were most courteous, and although we turned two of them away, we did buy from the third. In fact, the T-shirt lady made a special attempt to get a shirt my size (I am 6'6")and she did bring one the next day.
The beaches are wonderful, and the relaxed atmosphere has to be expierenced. My only complaint, and this would apply to all of Antigua are the sandflies and mosquitoes, although the Hawksbill does fog for mosquitoes each afternoon. Bring lots of good bug repellant, as it is expensive to buy locally.
We will definetly go the Antigua again, and suspect that we will once again go to the Hawksbill. Why tempt fate when you know that you have a good thing going.
