Hotel & Resort Reviews:
Antigua & Barbuda
Pineapple Beach Resort 11/14/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
The hotel offered great food, drinks, activities, photo opportunities. There were 4 restaurants at the hotel, the notable one being the "Outhouse" up on top of the hill serving a daily lunch barbeque! The main dining room offered buffet breakfasts, a la carte lunch's and supper. There is "tea snacks" and evening snacks in the disco (we never made it there). There's a weekly BBQ buffet. We ate when we were hungry, drank when we were thirsty, slept when we were sleepy, woke when we had enough sleep. Our only complaint was the coffee. We drank the water in one big gulp, it tasted a bit off. I think the motto for the hotel should be "if it appears they don't have what you want, then ask!!", they will do anything reasonable to make their guests happy. The first week we were there the hotel was maybe 30% occupied, the next week it was nearly sold out. The entertainment crew were fantastic, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Peter the Chef was very attentive, even offering me a nice lobster one night. Mary up at the Outhouse was very sincerely happy to serve you and care about your day. I mainly stayed near the pool (closer to the bar) with the occasional dip in the ocean. I did the daily aqua aerobics and even won a t-shirt in a silly dance contest one evening. I went snorkling (saw some nice fish) and reef-fishing (we didn't catch a thing). Herman did some beach volleyball and windsurfing. Long Bay beach was terrific. The hotel also offered a lunch on bird island (swimming and snorking), we didn't do it but heard it was worth the $20. (This review was orginally posted on March 8, 2001)
