Hotel & Resort Reviews:
Antigua & Barbuda
Sandals 12/08/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My husband and I were at Sandals Antigua for Sandals reunion week in April 2001 (although it was 8 months ago it seems like yesterday). We are 6 time Sandals returnin guests, but, we had never been to Antigua before. While we were there we also renewed our wedding vows. Let me start by summarizing our trip - the resort was wonderful... the island outside the resort left much to be desired. We did the day sail where we went to the boatyard and that was nice... and to Shirley's heights (very croweded!!!), but, after that the island is very dry and brown. But, when you're on Sandals property you don't notice it because of how much $$ they spend on landscaping the grounds - which are beautiful!!! The food isnt' that great compared to Negril, but, it's not bad either. The rooms - we booked the first level of concierege and after seeing all the rooms, those were the best on the resort except for the highest level of rooms (which are also the ones in the brochure with the balconys overlooking the ocean). Let me tell you about those rooms - they are 2 story with 4 rooms (2 on top and 2 on bottom) that actually face the ocean like that. The rest of them face the gardens. Although the rooms are very nice, if I paid that much and then faced the gardens, I would be mad!! After we renewed our vows, the highest level of room became available and we upgraded to it (for a price). This was the same room in the brochures and let me tell you it was nice. But, in my humble opinion, the first level of concierege are just as nice. Also, the outside entertainment is nice. Let me know if you have any questions!
