Hotel & Resort Reviews:
Antigua & Barbuda
Jolly Harbour Villas 01/21/02
Reviewers Rating: Good
Trip taken in December 2001, was very disappointed. We landed in Antigua with out our luggage., Had to wait a day. The staff at the villas were helpful, but didn't know if they were the resorts employees for they were not issued any uniforms or had name tags. I was shocked with the extra expenses. Since this was an exchange with II, I was charged 45 USD for taxes, 70 USD for a room with air conditioning, and 8USD for a BEACH TOWEL. The resort is very spread out, lots of walking the Golf cart rental was not worth it. The restaurants where over priced that you have to make sure that you watch out for the 17% tax. I felt like I was in prison, the Taxi rates where unreal 80 USD to go to Shirley Heights, and the buses don't go there, so you have no choice, but you could rent a car, but the Car rental was closed on Sunday. The best tour to do is the Jeep tour of the island. Food store was clean and the prices where better than going in St. John's, Make sure you catch the Bread Lady, Awesome pastries. Don't miss the cocktail managers special, only free thing going. So take it. Overall I was not impressed. Hope your vacation will be better
