Great
I just got back from the Royal antiquan yesterday and I have to admit that I had a fabulous time!I met some very nice people whom I spoke to (courtesy) and they were very nice to me.
I did not chose the all inclusive package and was fine. I rented a car thru "Alamo" (ask for Roland - nice fellow) and roamed the island whenever I wanted. You do need a car here because the hotel is remotely placed. The driving is on the left so be warned. We drove carefully as to avoid any accidents
Tried the local food. Had jerk chicken/jerk pork, fried dumplings, fried plantains, rice and peas, stewed mutton, fried fish etc.
The prices at the local restuarants were excellent as we paid in EC money (eastern caribbean-their currency) which proved to be less expensive.
the rate for US dollars was $2.68 per dollar.
Dinner cost an average of 7EC dollars to 15. That in Us rates is about 2 to 4 dollars!!
Our room was great. (Hint) Stay on the higher floors and make sure that u ask for a baloncy. Dont stay at anything lower than the 4th floor. The view was fantastic on the upper levels!
The beach was great. Fish swam up to your feet and tried to nibble on your toes. I have never seen anything like this. There were also star fish in the water and little crabs that were trying to get away from u once u spotted them. Cute...
The vendors - ok - but a little aggressive by being relentless about their tours every day.
"Lawrence" - ski doo operator from Rough and tough tours will "flip" you off into the waters so be warned. Do not, attempt to do this if you are scared or cannot swim because this can be a scary experience!!. We were flipped and I was not too happy about that, so be careful.
Overall, it was a cheap vacation at a marvellous rate. You get what u pay for, but honestly I think I got a bargain for a family of four. I actually had a good time and would go back there to stay...
Be well...
