Hotel Reviews:
Antigua & Barbuda
Rex Blue Heron 11/25/99
Reviewers Rating: Rating Not Given By Reviewer We stayed in this hotel in July 1999. We recommend it, its like this: The rooms are basic, but clean, with comfy furnishings and satellite TV. Its a beach resort, not the Ritz. Some of the rooms have tin roofs (cheaper accomodation), avoid them. They are too hot to be in during the day. The food is superb, top quality, couldn't fault it. The staff were great - friendly, helpful. The entertainment was great. Most nights, if I remember, and we enjoyed it. Singing, fire-eating, comics, they had a bit of everything. The beach is a nice one, white sandy. Does have a few sellers though, who charge a fortune. Haggle them down to 20% of what they initially asked for. The watersports were safe and fun. Small sailing boat. The motor boat was out of action, so no water ski-ing. The watersports are not the main attraction of the hotel, but they are there. Local boats stop by the hotel for paying guests - sailing (large catamaran for a party) and glass-bottomed. We chartered a private yacht for a day - £500 and worth every penny. There were several honeymooners, this is not a singles hotel. The pool is small and pleasant with adequate loungers. The bar is right next to it, so we spent a lot of time here. The island is fun to explore. Taxis are fine, buses are more fun. You just stand by the road and wave. They drive like lunatics, and you can hire landrovers. EMail me if you want more details. I recommend it, because I enjoyed it.
