If you're looking to see the island, meet the people and get to know the real Anguilla stay in the East not the West. Island Harbour is a great little fishing village with no pretense. It does have a bakery, bar, restaurants, grocery stores, fish markets all within an easy walk. Nearby are Shoal Bay, as good as you've heard, and the Palm Grove, a do not miss. In the middle is Harbour Villas. Simple, clean, great view, quiet, affordable(about $100 off-season). Phyllis Richardson the on-site manager is very helpful in arranging a rental car, suggesting restaurant, getting fresh fish or lining up a boat trip. The units are roomy, breezy and all have kitchens.
