Holiday Inn Aruba 1/9/00
Reviewers Rating: Great In November of 1998 we spent 8 days in sunny Aruba. (Our first time there.) We bought the all-inclusive option at the Holiday Inn. That turned out to be a bargain. Dinners ranged from $60-100 for two with house wine. The accomodations were good, although some were under construction at the time. Very large and beautiful beach, and a nice pool with bar. The Casino was small and under renovation when we were there. Although you could walk to neighboring hotels which had nice casinos. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and local transportation is plentiful. Downtown is mainly tourist, and pricey, with little else to offer. The windward side of the island is barren rock, desert, and heavy surf that makes it unfit for swimming. If you rent a car to see the natural bridge, get a jeep or other 4 wheel drive vehicle. The roads are just dirt paths and totally un-improved. Take water to drink with you, and plenty of sun screen and a hat! The weather in Aruba is gorgeous on the lee side of the island. Always a breeze, almost no rain, (maybe 10 minutes a day to keep the grass green.) The beaches are pristine, and free of debris. If you like sand, sun, and water, you'll like Aruba. If I had to go back, I would stay at the Allegro! Enjoy!
