Sonesta Suites 02/09/01

The Suites are oriented towards time-sharing but have hotel accomodations and are often part of 'package deals'; do not confuse the Sonesta Suites with the Sonesta Hotel which is in the downtown. The Suites have been recently remodeled and are a good place to stay in downtown Orangestad [capitol city of Aruba]. There are several views but avoid the views facing north unless you want to see the cruise ships and harbor views. The best views are to the southwest - sunsets and ocean. For the beach lover, there is a convenient boat ride to Sonesta Island about 5 minutes away which is private and quiet - for Sonesta guests only. For shoppers it's a 2 minute walk to the heart of downtown. There's a movie complex a 1 minute walk away as well as several good restaurants nearby. This hotel caters more towards those who don't want/need a car rental while on Aruba. For trips to other parts of the island [except for the east coast] buses are inexpensive and convenient. We enjoyed our stay here.
