Tamarijn Beach Resort 05/29/01

I stayed at this resort February 2000 -all inclusive. My friend and I are 50ish and don't consider ourselves as having to be pampered - we just want a nice beach and decent food. The food at the Tam was good. We liked the restaurants and the buffets. The room was clean and adequate for two. Unfortunately, we could not sit out on the balcony because the first night we saw a rat running down the drainpipe and it worried us - also did not want to leave our sliding door open because we thought it could come through the screen. I told management and they were "oh well" about this. Anyway, I just wanted to say that the beach was a major disappointment - rocks in the water making it very hard to get in - slippery and sharp. They were renovating the area in front of our room and the noise was very loud. I hope this situation is much better this year - but I don't think there is much to do about the rocks. Most of the staff was friendly, but some were just indifferent. It would have been nice if the hotel had offered us some compensation since they said we couldn't change rooms.
