Reviewers Rating: Fair
This hotel is classed by UK travel brochures as a 4* hotel however the classification is a little optimistic to say the least! The classification of fair is dependent on assuming it is actually compared to 3* hotels as for a 4* it is definately very poor. (The Babados tourist office actually confirmed this revised classification).
Whilst the entrance is impressive we were instantly disappointed by the service received on check in. We specifically requested a 2nd or 3rd floor room but were allocated a gound floor one regadless. It was claimed that the two e:mails and fax sent had not been received...the reservations manager said this happenned quite often! On finding the room (no-one actually took us or our luggage to it) the bedroom and lounge area were OK but the bathroom had definately seen better days and the airconditioning unit directly above the bedroom door was leaking.
Our mood was not improved by the comments of other guests regarding the poor levels of service, attitude of staff in general and the quality of food on offer. Most appearred to be either trying to transfer to other hotels or were 'putting up with it' and warned us we would have to do the same throughout our stay. Our decision of how long we were prepared to put up with was actually made for us as we were woken by an intruder in the room at 2am. After chasing him off we tried to phone security only to discover the phone in the room did not work. We therefore had to walk to reception where we discovered that security consisted of an old man with a walking stick who accompanied us back to the room and said 'he's gone now'. We were determined not to stay the night in the same room and a free room was discovered on the 2nd floor --(Submission error, remainder of review not received. Chani, please repost if necessary.)--
