Barbados
Sam Lord's Castle 05/02/01
Reviewers Rating: Great
Just got back from Barbados. Stayed all-inclusive at Sam Lord's Castle in an ocean view room. This was a free upgrade through our agent and a definite plus. All ocean view units are only two story units. The first OV we were booked in had a dripping toilet, the AC didn't work very well and the view of the ocean was blocked by the palm trees on the beach. When I asked about moving to a better room, they were quick to accommodate and we ended up on the north end with an amazing view of the beach and ocean. The AC was a lot better too, but most of the time we just left the two huge patio doors open to catch breeze and sounds of the surf (only about fifty feet away). Anyway, enough reminicing. Service and Shuttle to resort very good. Hotel receptionist excellent. Accommodations excellent (would recomment oceanview at the nort end of the resort)or is you like easy access to the pool then a ground floor pool view. Food at buffet very good selection and quality. Food at Restaurtant excellent selection and quality. Service at buffet is good. Service at Bars is okay. Service at restaruant and activities desk and receptionist is excellent. Beach is very good for suntanning but no water sports or swimming as it is on the rough ocean side (but is very pretty). To accommodate this they have a shuttle every day to Dover beach for swimming and water sports included. They also have a shuttle to Bridgetown for shopping. The staff at the hotel are courteous but not friendly in a way that some visitors might expect, but that is common at a lot of the islands. All in all, is you get a good price for this resort I would recommend it. I would definitely also recommend going on a island bus tour, or boating tour etc. as there is a lot to see and do on the island (except for good golfing).
W Best
