Bougainvillea Beach Resort 07/01/01

Wow! I came to Bougainvillea with high expectations, given the many good reviews I read and the pics on the website; however, I was curious how it could be so comparatively affordable. Bougainvillea far exceeded my expectations. If you are someone who is touched by nature‰s beauty, this is the place for you. There were different hues of blue, winding pools, hidden coves, flowering trees, many species of palms, and waterfalls everywhere. It was lively at times, yet also peaceful and serene. The grounds seemed quite spread out, yet the resort had an intimate feel š we were able to make friends with a few couples and families. The beach was large enough and well maintained. The resort is linked to its sister resort, Sand Acres, by a walkway over a jetty š great to add to your morning walk. There were singing birds at day and chirping tree frogs at night. The two restaurants were fine and had a widely varying range of prices (and not too formal). There was almost nightly entertainment/activities š don‰t miss the Friday Oisten‰s Fish Fry shuttle or the Thursday Caribbean show and buffet. The resort clientele was a mix of families, couples and some young singles. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We were put on a ground floor room (5112) which at first I was upset about because long ago, I had requested a higher floor room. This might be because we arrived late at night. However, by the next morning at 10:00, a second floor room was found for us. Funny thing is, we ended up with a fairly unobstructed view and loved the easy access through the front porch door (double locks) that we stayed where we were. We had the simple studio, which was more than large enough for us, with an adequate kitchen (full sized frig) and large bathroom. The room was nicely decorated. The first floor patios were huge. I cannot say enough good things about Bougainvillea. My husband and I had tears in our eyes when we had to leave, and we will be back again. This is a place that brought us great joy, so I must spread some around and recommend this place to everyone!!
