Hotel & Resort Reviews: Barbados
Escape at Prospect Bay 07/08/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Escape at Prospect Bay is an excellent hotel.

The renovations and new Spa have all been completed now and it really is lovely. The new facilities include the Harmony Spa (with all kinds of treatments including massage, manicures, pedicures)and The Splash Room (with sauna, steam room and vichy showers). The pool is large and much much bigger than the one outside the main building. At one end of the pool, there is a jaccuzi and loungers with cushions for you to relax on if the weather gets too hot (this is undercover). I never went into one of the bedrooms but I heard they were lovely. They all have large terraces or balconies. There is also the Garden Restuarant over at the Spa which has a partially open roof and superb food.

We stayed in a Superior Villa room which was small but lovely - we had our own terrace with small pool which is shared between the other guests in the villa, even though we seemed to be the only people that used it! A couple of days before we were due to come home, we were upgraded to one of the new deluxe rooms at the top of the main building which was superb. These are situated I was told, where the rooftop terrace, jacuzzi and juice bar used to be.

The beach was fantastic and has "The Rumshack" bar so it was never far to walk to get a drink! The sea is lovely and calm so brilliant for snorkeling and swimming.

The food in both the Garden Restaurants and Seascape is excellent - definitely, in my opinion, first-class, with different menus every night. The staff at the hotel really can't do enough for you - everyone was so friendly and would always take the time to chat if you wanted to.

In my opinion, the hotel definitely deserves its recent upgrade from 3 to 4 star and I will definitely return.

Simone
