Barbados Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Tropical Escape, St James 06/11/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My partner and I visited the Tropical Escape in January this year and we had a wonderful 7 days. After a disaterous flight (try not to fly from Manchester via Gatwick - it is a nightmare!)we were delighted when we arrived at the hotel. Yes, it is not the most beautiful hotel in Barbados to look at but the service and staff are first class. The rooms are spacious and cleaned to a high standard daily, the pool is just the right size to do a few leisurley lengths in (die hard swimmers will find this pool way too small)and around the pool there are plenty of loungers for the sun worshipers (if you are going to spend a day by the pool, grab a lounger near the back wall opposite the doorway so you get the sun all morning and afternoon). The buffet food was great, a good choice at breakfast lunch and dinner and it was fresh - it depends if food is the biggest factor you look for in your holiday. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and if you pay less than 750 for a week in the Carribean, you are not going to get fillet steak every night! There was fresh bread, salad, fruit and cakes/pastries at every sitting with a choice of meats/fish/pasta etc for main courses. The "3 course nights" were slightly limited (although there were about 4 mains to choose from) but there was still salad and stuff to choose from at the buffet bar.

The beach is one of the most amazing that I have seen in the Caribbean and you must spend a couple of days here enjoying the facilities provided by the hotel.

The Tropical Escape, St James and Barbados as a whole are fabulous places. The people are very friendly and approachable and the way of life is a real eye opener! We had never been to Barbados before but we have booked to go back for 2 weeks this winter and I can see this being our holiday destination of choice for the next few years.

To anyone thinking of staying at the Tropical Escape you will have a wonderful relaxing holiday, it is a great place and you should have no problems. Remember, if you want a holiday with 5* accomodation and 5* food you should have booked for Sandy Lane - but then you really WOULD have to pay!!
