Escape at Prospect Bay 09/05/2003

Never normally bother with writing reviews like this but found this site and others like it a real help when choosing accommodation in Barbados.
We spent 10 nights at the Escape at Prospect Bay in July and had a wonderful time. The entire hotel is kept clean and tidy and the staff are, as mentioned elsewhere, very helpful and chatty. We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the sea and although it wasn't as luxurious in decor/fixtures/furnishings as other 4* hotels I have stayed in, given the amount of time you actually spend in the room, this was not really important.
The sandy beach was stunning and always had enough loungers for all hotel guests; the beach bar was great and the watersports on offer were all a great distraction when you got bored of lying in the sun.
The spa complex across the road is good if you are looking for a child-free area, although with such an amazing beach on offer, it seems a pity to spend time lying by a pool, albeit a very nice one with bubble jets etc. at one end. I had a few spa treatments and thought that they were OK, and just as good as I have experienced elsewhere, but nothing special. On the whole, the spa facility is a really nice option to have for a change of scenery and as an option to do something different or treat yourself, but the best thing about it, is the Garden restaurant.
The restaurant in the main hotel was very good. Having been warned about dire food at all inclusives, it was a nice surprise to be offered waitress service and a really interesting and varied menu every night. The fresh fish is delicious but meat and veg options are also good. The Garden restaurant in the spa complex is outstanding - although because of its size, they do limit the number of evening meals you can take there, although you can have lunch there as often as you like, and we chose to eat there most days. The setting is beautiful and the food, absolutely first class.
All in all a fantastic hotel that I would highly recommend.
