Claridge's Inn Barbados 02/28/2005

Claridge's is a great value basic guest house with spacious, quiet, and comfortable rooms facing a tropical garden. It offers 9 units in all. Natural air conditioning from the trade winds, and ceiling fans provided us with a comfortable temperature. The two rooms that do not have east-west orientation have air conditioning. The Inn is a bit run-down...but we felt safe, and enjoyed socializing with our neighbors. The nearby Gibbes beach (a short 3 minute walk away) is, in a word, awesome. Island buses run frequently on Highway 1 located just around the corner so a car is not really necessary. We have stayed at the Inn several times, and each time find ourselves dragging our feet in the sand when it comes time to return home. Barbados is an expensive island. We find, by staying at this modest establishment, we are able to better afford the various activities and wonderful restaurants on this beautiful island, as well as enjoy a longer stay.
