Long Bay Beach Resort 10/11/01

I have visited Long Bay twice this year and will do so again. The accomodations are quite reasonably priced and the property is gorgeous from the beautiful white sand beach (uncrowded and clean) to the breathtaking views of Jost Van Dyke Island. There are 2 tennis courts and the only golf course (such as it is) on Tortola, and boasts a beautiful 130' swimming pool. Both hot tubs were partly inoperable during my most recent stay as was the water slide.
The Garden Restaurant serves a killer filet mignon and the service is fair. The price can be hard to swallow, thankfully the food is good.
The Beach Cafe also has some of the best food on the island of Tortola but still needs to work on the service end of things.
The Pool Bar serves a modest menu but is reasonably priced. If you seat yourself at the bar, that's the best shot at getting good service.
"Island Time" is no excuse for being slow. If it weren't for the service aspect this would get my fullest recommendation, and again I object to having a service charge (tip) placed on my bill without my consent. If you want a tip earn it with exceptional service.
