Hotel Reviews: British Virgin Islands
Little Dix Bay 10/31/01
Reviewers Rating: Great
We went to Little Dix 13 Oct 01 ö 28 Oct 01 for our wedding and honeymoon. 7 more family members were there for the 1st (wedding) week as well. The resort itself deserves 4 stars, excellent. It is one of the nicest resorts we've seen so far. If you have any issue with your accommodation and it is not resolved within a day, contact the management and it will be taken care of immediately. The restaurants deserve the same rating. However, only international cuisine is offered. The meal plans are no viable option, as no drinks are included, breakfast is up to $16 and the most expensive entree is $40 (MAP $90/person/day). As there are other very good international and west indie restaurants in town 10 to 20 walking minutes away, you may want to venture out as well. The boathouse is very accommodating to all your water sport needs. Just make sure that the respective ones are part of your travel package. The wedding coordination is good regarding application and preparation for the wedding. However, during our wedding a recoverable issue occurred that was out of anybodies control, which made the wedding coordinator panic and we had to start micro-managing our own wedding. Hopefully, this was a single occurrence. For small groups the best wedding time is 4PM. It will allow the ceremony on property, a reception w/ champagne & cake, as well as pictures at the beach et al. DO NOT TRY 5PM. The sun sets quickly in the Caribbean and 15 minutes before sunset, as indicated on the weather report, is a hard stop for photographs ! The resort has a couple of picture perfect spots. Special requests will be accommodated, but then insist on a rehearsal ! Overall, the kitchen, dining and housekeeping teams build the heart of the resort; very nice, personal, and capable people. If you want something out of the ordinary, keep management in the loop and you're all set.
