British Virgin Islands
Saba Rock 01/08/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Saba Rock would appeal to the person who really wants to get away from it all, and yet be in the North Sound for sailing, diving and entertainment. It is also perfect for boat crew who are about to mutiny unless they can have a night on dry land! There are 8 rooms available (there is a last minute boater's rate after 5 pm) with queen or larger beds, satellite TV, A/C, fridge and lovely views of the Sound, Statia Island or the Bitter End. There is a lovely garden with tiff grass that feels so great on your toes and places to sit and contemplate as you look out at Statia Reef. A small "fish pond" is a great source of entertainment and history (it contains one of the anchors from the Rhone). The staff is extremely helpful-from the gardener to the ferry boat captain. A continental breakfast is included, and the restaurant serves up a great lunch and buffet dinner. If you are looking for huge resort, go elsewhere. If you want a small, service-oriented hotel with nooks and crannies for catching rays or reading a book, while being a short hop from multiple water activities, try Saba Rock.
