Our famiy stayed at the Smugger's View Villa at Smuggler's Cove Beach on Tortola. (see ReservationsBVI.com) We found the house on the web, and were surprised to see there were so many pictures posted of the property. I then contacted them by phone and found out they have a local manager, Cynthia. She was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. When I asked for a referral, she suggested I call the current guests staying at the villa. I immediately did so, and they gave me excellent reviews, saying the house was in excellent shape, with a hard working staff and being at the beach was terrific.
I decided to book the villa by credit card the next day. Before our arrival, Cynthia was in constant contact with us, arranging our rental car (delivered to the villa) and ordering our groceries (delivered to the villa and put away neatly before our arrival) and she sent out a nice taxi "mon" to fetch us at the airport, who took us to the villa without delay.
When we arrivied, the in house bar was fully stocked with cheap prices or you can replace what you take, Cynthia made sure we knew that several rounds were on the house free!
The villa was everything as advertised and a WHOLE LOT MORE!
My husband and kids, were eager to take the little sailboat out that came with the house along with an ocean kayak. Life vests in all sizes and other useful equipment like beach chairs, floats, coolers and such were provided.
It seems that everything was very well thought out in the house and it came with loads of little touches that made the vacation so comfortable. Like they left us a basket of sun screen and bug repellant, a big basket full of fluffy beach and jacuzzi towels (villa has huge jacuzzi in a lovely garden setting) plus a large assortment of books, magazines, videos, CD's, games etc.
There was a basket of local brochures and loads of island info, we didn't have to search for anything, it just seemed to all be there.
The kitchen is very well equipped with lots of extra touches. Our family enjoyed elegant dining on the verandah, with table cloths, placemats, napkins, candles, flowers, all this already set up and provided by the villa.
The house is deocorated with loads of indoor plants and flowers, it was very tropical.
The maid came in daily and kept the house immaculate. I just can't seem to say enough good things about the place!
The maintenance is superb, we had a minor problem and called Cynthia about it, and she came over and had it repaired in under an hour, now THAT is service!
If you want a stress free vacation in a beautiful villa that is superbly maintained, then Smuggler's View Villa is the place to be. We plan to go back next year. We have found paradise!
