Neptune's Treasure 08/20/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Neptune's Treasure, on Anegada's south shore, is the Soares family's labor of love. From Vernon, the fisherman who brought his wife and children from Bermuda 40 years ago, to his children who fish and run the establishment, to the third generation just coming into the family business...you will meet them and be charmed. The nine rooms are all air conditioned, tidy with very comfortable beds. Breakfast cooked to order(additional)is available served in the restaurant or on the patio by the water. Dinner reservations must be put in by 4 pm- a list of fish as well as chicken, ribs etc. is available. Prices range from $16 to MP for lobster. Ask what Mark and Dean have brought in recently-swordfish, tuna, wahoo, local pot fish? Dinner is served family style- veggies and potato or rice and salad in bowls. You will become acquainted with many Anegadians at the bar at Neptune's Treasure-someone will surely point you in the direction you want to go... beachcombing, snorkeling, bonefishing, kayaking, touring. You may want to stake your claim on a hammock and read. Anegada is for adventurous travelers who do not need to be entertained; for those who thrill to the promise of a green flash at sunset or a meteor shower on a clear night. (Note: Neptune's Treasure is closed September 1-October 15, 2002)
