Occidental Allegro Papagayo Hotel All-Inclusive 09/05/2006
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
The hotel is gorgeous-with perfect views of the Pacific. It has a pool, two restaurants (make reservations the minute you get there as they sell out quickly), a buffet (average)and a snack bar. The food is average to above average. The cocktails and drinks are delicious. The pool is nice, 4 ft. deep all around. The resort's beach is on the gulf. The water is safe (no waves), warm and clean. Snorkeling equipment is sparce, often we would need to wait 30 minute to use the snorkeling equipment. We did snorkel and saw gorgeous fish and stingrays. There are lots of wildlife to see, iguanas, pelicans, hermit crabs, a monkey, gorgeous birds and geckos. There are no activities for children. There were children staying at the resort and all were happy anyway. The hotel guests are generally polite, friendly and low key. The rooms are pretty, often with an ocean view and clean. In terms of outside excursions; the Arenal Volcano is a 12 hour day and during the rainy season one cannot usually see lava (it's too long a drive-4 hours each way!!) Most people we spoke to loved the combo tours with the zip lines. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
