Hotel Reviews:
Cancún & Cozumel
Camino Real 3/9/00
Reviewers Rating: Excellent This is an absolutely stunning resort! We have been there twice and cannot wait to return. The Camino Real is the opposite of the glitzy commercialized vision people may have of Cancún. The resort is very peaceful and classic with Mexican architecture with beautiful little "nooks and crannies" and artwork everywhere. The resort is located on the top corner of Cancún, picturing it as a "7". There is water on two (actually three) sides. There is a beach on the rougher, open Caribbean sea. Also, there is a longer beach on the calmer bay looking over to Isla Mujeres. Both bodies of water are a beautiful clear azure. Further, there is a man-made lagoon, stocked with tropical fish, turtles, etc. with its own beach. The resort also has a huge pool with a swim-up bar. Water, water everywhere!! You will find many iguanas sunning themselves around the resort. One side of the old/main building faces a rocky cliff overlooking the rough side of the water. The other side is sloped, rising straight up from the lagoon. The newer part of the resort is a tower building where rooms have hot tubs, complimentary breakfast, etc. Personnaly, I'd stick with the old building. The service and hospitality is incredible. They really appreciate your patronage. The resort is located a very short walk from at least two main malls, convention center, etc. but it's not in the middle of a busy strip. There are many cute shops and a few restaurants right at the resort, and there are a couple travel/tour agencies. I cannot say enough good things about this charming, restful, beautful place!!
