My first trip to an all inclusive, and it was a pleasant experience. Other reviews have mentioned bad odor near the lobby & hard beds. I can confirm the hard beds, but I've also read you can request a pad, I didn't bother with it though. I did not experience any serious odor problems, but there is sometimes standing water in a few places, and it probably could get stinky. There is also a public restroom near the lobby, and it could also cause odor. The food was fine, no complaints with it at all. But I did have 2 of the WORST margaritas ever there, it's the mixer they use, but other drinks were fine. Reservations for the 2 ala carte restaurants must be made between 9-11am, and that can be a little inconvenient for busy guests. On the other hand, I was accommodated when I explained my scheduling conflict.
The resort is about as far away from town as you can get, and is a $15, 25 minute ride to town. But if you're diving, this is a good thing since the best reefs are only 5 minutes away! I've not read good reviews of the on-site dive shop though.
Some have complained that the rooms are small, and I would agree that a family of 4 might be cramped, but it was fine for 1 or 2 people. The shower was nice, water was hot and pressure was very good.. I suggest the handheld for even more pressure!
TIPS: Get a room away from the lobby/theatre area, it can get noisy at night. Keep the bathroom & closet closed, it helps the AC work better. Hang "damp" clothes in the closet above the mini-frig.. it's heat will help them dry. Take insect repellant, they do "smoke" at least twice a day for mosquitoes, but it's not enough.
