Cancun Palace 06/10/01

I have stayed at Cancun Palace 3 times in the last 2 years.
The first time was absolutey wonderful. They grilled all kinds of fish out by the pool area. The food was so good, and the attendants were very nice. The beach was perfect and very clean. The waves were so high that they threw a lady up in the air and she broke her arm. They threw me several yard down the beach. This by just standing a little off the shore. I almost cried when I had to leave.
The second time, we brought friends with us, raving about how great our previous visit had been.
We quickly regretted boasting so highly of Cancun Palace upon our arrival with our friends. Our room had mold growing on the walls, the shower didn't work, nor did the toilet. The hotel attendants were extremely rude, and the quality of the food had gone WAY down hill. Construction was going on everywhere around the hotel, and they worked around the clock. I had to call the desk and ask them to please tell the workers to stop pounding because it was 2 am and we could not sleep. The lobby area is extremely hot. I just could not believe that this was the same place we had visited just a few months earlier.
Then, for some strange reason, our friends insisted that we go back because they loved the beach at Cancun Palace. With construction over, maybe things had gotten better.
So, here we go... back yet again to Cancun Palace. We soon found out that things had only worsened with the resort. The people were even ruder and the food was absolutley horrible. No more fresh fish grilled out by the pool area during the afternoon. The beach was not clean like before. They no longer brought drinks out to you at the beach. I guess the Palace Resorts have gotten so HUGE that they forgot about the importance of taking care of their guests.
I do hope that things have changed because I still remember how wonderful Cancun Palace once was.
