Hotel & Resort Reviews: Cancún & Cozumel
Bahia Principe Akumal 05/21/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
A group of 28 of us stayed at this resort from April 14 until April 28, 2002. We also got married at the resort. I have nothing but excellent things to say about the wedding coordinator Kathrin. She was very helpful. We also had a bellboy that we befriended named Alberto. The resort is beautiful and extremely well maintained. They are constantly cleaning and sweeping all areas of the resort. The sand is shifted occasionally so it is pretty much always smooth and never gets hot. I could go on and on about how they take care of the resort. And yes we had the towel animals etc... in our room. The shuttles in and around the resort are usually pretty regular and useful. There is quite a bit to do there and all of restaurants were excellent, however everyone has their own tastes and some people like each restaurant for their own reasons. The only downfall I would mention for this resort is the fact that out of 28 people pretty much all but three ended up getting some type of stomach bug. Probably the different food, but I would take Pepto or something like that as a preventitive measure. The other negative is the quality of the alcohol at the bars other than the restaurants. Very poor. Everyone in out group felt that they charge enough for a stay that the quality should be better. Even if they need to add $100 per week to the cost so they could have better quality drinks that would be perfect. Other than that it was an awesome two weeks. Never a problem getting a beach chair and the surroundings are incredible as are the people. Everyone from the maids to the front desk people are very friendly. You are constantly saying Hola! to the staff and responding to how your day/night/afternoon is. They are all quite good with helping you understand them and in turn they all seem to know a little English ( quite helpful for us Western Canadian folk who are too stubborn to learn a second language). The clientele is mostly European with the occasional Canadian and American. It was quite busy while we were there, but we did not have to wait for much. They did run out of certain kinds of alcohol at one point in our stay, but not so much of a problem that it really affected us. The resort is absolutely gorgeous.

I would recommend this resort based on how friendly they are and how clean they keep the resort.
