Great
The Aquamarina is an all-inclusive resort in the heart of Cancun's hotel zone. The hotel doesn't stack up with the Palace resorts or most of the other more popular all-inclusive spots, but at $60 per person per night, no one should expect it to; the Aquamarina is what it is: an affordable all-inclusive on the beach, all rooms ocean view, in a great location. Many of the guests were europeans, which made for an interesting mix. The pool is small but functional with a pool bar, and the beach is small, too, but the ocean calm -- a plus.
The food is cafeteria quality, not horrendous but certainly not the same as resorts priced twice as high. Our room was a suite, and was nice, although the double beds were a bit short.
Service isn't great -- is it ever in Mexico? -- and you won't find waitresses delivering drinks pool side.
But overall, the resort is certainly worth the money, and a good spot to set up base and explore excursions such as Isla Majerus or Xcaret. We had a great time.
