Hotel & Resort Reviews: Cancún & Cozumel
Royal Solaris Caribe 07/07/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We stayed at this wonderful resort from June 27 - July 4. What is cool about this resort is it's like two resorts in one. You are assigned a room in either the Royal Tower or Caribe Tower. These "Towers" refer to two separate buildings side by side and you have access to the pools, restaurants, etc. of both buildings. The less noisy side of the two day or night is the Caribe side. The larger of the pools and restaurants is on the Royal side.

Food: excellent quaility and presentation we thought in all venues. There are something like 8 restaurants on both sides. Two are ala carte and there are 2 pool side snack bars operating in the day time serving burgers, hot dogs, etc. We were usually in for the night by 10pm but I understand that there is 1 or 2 snack buffets that begin around that time in one spot and at midnight in another spot. No reservations were required in the ala carte restaurants. You could find your self waiting for a table if you got to one of these from about 6-7:30pm. I believe dinner was served from about 6-9:30 nightly.

Alcohol: free flowing from about 10am until ? resort wide. If you don't see something ingredients wise, ask and you'll probably receive.

Kids Club: it was not that busy from what we saw and heard from the staff. However, our almost 6 year old enjoyed it just the same when he was there. Twice, he preferred to stay when we went to retrieve him. We found a staff member named Claudia really great here.

General: I would say that this is a place big enough to be attractive to not only families but singles and couple as well. We were there with our 16, 18 and 21 year olds in addition to our youngest. All found people in their age groups to hang with. Be aware that the legal age for consuming alcohol in Mexico is 18 and what ever wrist band your assigned at check in determines whether alcohol can be served or not.

Staff: they were great from what I saw and even though it's not necessary to tip them since this is an all inclusive resort (your vacation includes this charge upfront) they performed wonderfully consistently. We did not tip 2 of our favorite staff members at ther end of the trip but did make mention of them in writing on the comment card.

Finally, I would reccomend this all inclusive resort to almost anyone. The age range ran the whole spectrum among the guests.

Paul
