Excellent
All in all, I would have to say this was quite possible the best resort I have seen. It had a wonderful staff (some of the friendliest people I have ever met), excellent restaurants and fabulous shows that I enjoyed every night (I saw one the first night and returned to the theater without fail every night until the day I left). THE BEACH
Clean, clear blue water, beautiful white sand, and many different styles of boating available here. If you have never been snorkeling before, this is the place to learn. There aren't many things to see in the water though, so if you are advanced at snorkeling youwould prefer to go somewhere else. No need to bring beach chairs, they are right there on the beach waiting for you. All in all, a 4 out of 5 for the beach.
THE POOL
This was by far the largest pool I have ever seen. The main pool never really got that deep (approx. 4-5 feet), and it had a raised "hot tub" in the center (I dont know if it was supposed to be a hot tub or not, but it was roughly the same temperature as the pool). The only complaint I have about the pool was the water. If you go early there is no problem, but by noon the water was at least 80-85 degrees, not a very good "pool temperature" for a hot day. Again, you need to get up early if you want a bed by the pool, but the "umbrellas" near it rarely got too crowded. There are other pools as well, though I rarely saw anyone using them. There is a children's pool used mainy by the kid's program, a "sports pool" with basketball hoops on the sides, and an adults pool that was closed for renovations while we were there. Waiters are always walking around, so no need to get up if you need a drink but just cant tear yourself away from your book for a second. There is a small buffet that serves snackfoods such as pizza, nachos, etc. and a bar located right next to the pool. once again, I give this section of the resort a 4 out of 5.
FOOD
What can I say? There are 4 places to go for food, and all of them are fabulous! There is a steakhouse, mexican restaurant, main (buffet) located near the front of the hotel and for lunch there is the poolside buffet. Loved the food, you could stay here for a month and probably never eat the same thing twice. 5 out of 5 for the food here.
ENTERTAINMENT
many options for things to do here. There are snorkeling/scuba lessons in the pool, spanish lessons by the pool, water aerobics, regular aerobics, volleyball, and my personal favorite, the nightly show performed by the staff. I have heard people say they have seen better, and if you are comparing this to a Broadway show you probably have, but personally, I was just looking to have fun, and they did a perfectly good job of that right here. The schedule is pretty much the same every night. At around 8:00, the "kid's disco" starts, which is usually a little game with the kids and then a dance (I don't know the name) that was performed at least 2 times by the kids AND adults every night. There is usually a "pre-show" skit, which is always fun. The main show sometimes involves audience participation (one particualr night they held a "Mr. Iberostar" competition, which was hilarious). Thye also did a casino night, a black light show and on our last night there, they had an Entire Mexican themed night. My only complaint is that there is no air conditioning, only a few fans here and there, so it tends to get very hot. 4 out of 5 for the entertainment here.
STAFF
This is a 5 out of 5 for sure. These people were friendly all day, every day and they obviously weren't acting that was just because their boss told them too. They are always involved at the pool, regularly putting together things like volleyball tournaments on the beach and mainly just hanging out with the people around them. At night, they are right there dancing with you to the music played every night before the main show starts. They are genuinely nice people.
ROOMS
Our room was located on the second floor facing the beach, so in my opinion it was the best room there. There was nothing better than waking up early in the morning or watching the beach grow darker and darker at sunset. It was very peaceful. Huge earth toned showers, and our room had a king size bed with two couches that could be made into twin beds. We had TV, but we never watched it. First of all, it was all in spanish, so we didnt understand anything, and second there was really so much to do that we never had time! There is a mini bar which is refilled once every two days. 5 out of 5 for the rooms.
All right, thats about it. overall, four stars for this resort, I loved it and will definitely be coming back!
